USA 5.0 out of 5 stars It is a keeper!, September 14, 2014 This pen really works! I have carpel tunnel syndrome so my hand can cramp up if I spend hours writing flash cards for my class I am taking. When my hand becomes painful I can switch over to this pen and I do not have all that pain. The quality of the pen is decent, too. I am really glad I made this purchase. 5.0 out of 5 stars The best, June 1, 2014 I love this pen. I use it all day at work and wish I had one for my car, everywhere in my house, etc. It is so easy to write with. Pain free! 5.0 out of 5 stars Easier Writing, May 9, 2014 I use it when the arthritis in my hand is really "acting up". It takes a few minutes of practice time to get used to but after that it really makes it easier to write during the periods when the arthritis is so painful. 4.0 out of 5 stars Functions well as advertised, May 7, 2014 The pen was received on time, but at first did not write! However, an email to the company quickly solved the problem. The pen comes with a wax coating on the writing ball and needs to be removed simply with hot water. Now works fine. Very prompt and helpful CS. My suggestion is that they include this little tidbit on the packaging. 5.0 out of 5 stars Neat, May 2, 2014 The pen is perfect for what I need it for its smooth and easy to use its a little more than I wanted to spend but it comes with replacement ink perfect Just what he needed., August 24, 2013 The therapist suggested I buy this Ring pen to help my husband, who has had a stroke, and has limited use of his right hand. By working on his writing every day, he can now sign his name legibly.. 5.0 out of 5 stars a stylish stylus, June 26, 2013 Cap is kinda weak, but the entire pen itself is quite good. My first tip writes a bit sketchy, but I switched it with a replacement, which does better. Probably sat for a little while. Pen itself is very, very comfortable, as well as quite professional in appearance. 5.0 out of 5 stars My dad loved this product, February 10, 2013 5.0 out of 5 stars Wonderful for older and arthritic hands, February 8, 2013 5.0 out of 5 stars Ring pen, February 1, 2013 5.0 out of 5 stars great pen, June 15, 2012 5.0 out of 5 stars For my mom..., March 12, 2012 ... |

GERMANY (5 STARS) Doch auch für Linkshänder!, 28. September 2014
AUSTRALIA:
Handwriting Helpers!
Many of us have children who struggle with handwriting. While many have tried different methods, fun materials, lots of encouragement etc, often the problem is low muscle tone in the hands and pain when handwriting.
One thing we have done lots of, is therapy. We spent years (5+) having Occupational Therapy (OT) and concentrated on fine motor skills, specifically strengthening the hand muscles for handwriting. These days our OT is for both gross motor and fine motor, and helps with my son's Joint Hypermobility Syndrome and his super low tone. Point is, we've done the hard yards, we've done all the recommended exercises and home therapy programs too. We've tried every finger grip and type of pencil we could find and we got to a point where my son could write, and write neatly (when he put his mind to it) but still could not write a lot and not fast. It still hurts him. Given his condition it probably always will. I doubt he will become a Calligraphy artist LOL.
Now I admit, you get sick of looking for new options and searching online. So I haven't done it in quite a while. But I found two things last month that have been working really well for us and I wanted to share.
First is the RinG-Pen Ultra. I bought it from My Diffability Australia. This has been my son's preferred option for handwriting. All other pencil grips still required him to put the pressure on the pencil to hold it so no matter how soft the grip was, how bulky it was etc, he still had to hold his fingers there using his muscles and that got painful. The Ring-Pen Ultra is a little different. It holds the pencil or pen and you put it on your finger like a ring and lay the finger in place. The ring grip holds the pencil in place, not the muscles of the finger. My son has said he doesn't have to grip as hard and can rest his fingers more. My son (like me) is ambidextrous and we have been able to use it on both hands with no trouble. Really loving it!
What's fantastic about this little gadget, is that you can also use it for cutlery and things like paintbrushes. My boy uses the small size (yellow) while I use the medium (white) and large (black) sizes. Yes I bought all three so he has them as he grows.
